Highlights from the Thursday October 27, 2016 event.

The HORROR/THRILLER OCTOBER 2016 HORROR/THRILLER Festival was a major success. The sold out crowd loved every single film.

The theme of the festival was “Illusions (or What Can’t Be Seen)”.

All of these films had a situation, antagonist, or plot device that was off camera. The mystery of what’s not seen to enhance the thrills and scare the audience more!

This was our 3rd Horror/Thriller Festival of 2016 and perhaps the best of the year. What made this festival so unique was that it was an international flair. Films from Norway, UK, France, USA and Germay. A showcase of horror from countries from all over the film.

One of our longest films of the year, O (29min. Norway), has the potential to be named the best overall film that played at the festival this year. It was the runaway winner of “Best…

READ FULL INTERVIEW: Supervising Sound Editor Wylie Stateman (The Hateful Eight, Home Alone, JFK) –

Wylie Statement is a gem. It’s a simple as that. This is truly one of my favorite interviews. In my subjective opinion, it’s a must read for anyone working in the industry today, and for those attempting to get into the industry. His answers were entertaining, educational, and there is a theme that ties it all together. See if you can figure it out. Hope you enjoy.

On working with Quentin Tarantino:

Quentin taught me the value in studying historical film references. He often provided specific examples of films that he felt advanced filmmaking or some aspect of sound specifically. For “Kill Bill”, we reviewed Quentin’s fascination with early Hong Kong films. On “Grindhouse”, he once referenced a trailer that he had seen some thirty years prior as having left a lasting impression on him (sound-wise)…

I am really happy with the audience feedback video I received.. First of all, because the audience could understand the feelings that I wanted to convey through my movie and second reason because my animation style also was praised. I am amazed and happy.

Film Review: TROLLS (USA 2016) ***

The new Dreamworks animation released by 20th Century Fox, TROLLS is a happy enough 3D computer-animated musical buddy comedy film based on the dolls of the same name created by Dane Thomas Dam way back in 1959.

Film Review: DOCTOR STRANGE (USA 2016) ***

The Marvel superhero DOCTOR STRANGE gets his first debut on the big screen complete with 3D. Though the character has appeared in a TV movie and animated film before, he is given a fresh treatment which is a good thing considering that there are already too many super hero action movies each year.

HACKSAW RIDGE (USA/Australia 2016) ***** Top 10

After about a decade absence from the director’s chair (his last film was the misunderstood APOCALYPTO in 2006), the director of BRAVEHEART and THE PASSION…

I got my appraisal and it was possibly the best I have ever received, not because it was good or complimentary, but because they had obviously read it, and I mean completely and they properly criticized it! So their comments were not only ‘left of field’, but they were an accurate observation and they actually improved the script, not matter how hard they were to swallow. It was so worthwhile it was worth the price of entry just to get that feedback.

Interview with The Newton Brothers (Composers – Ouija: 2, The Runner) – What a great time I had chatting with the extremely talented Newton Brothers (Andrew Grush & Taylor Stewart). A composing team that has already “scored” an impressive resume. I talked with them while they were in the midst of promoting their composing work on the…
