Deception can be a powerful tool when used for the good of all. It can be both constructive and destructive. Watch madness come when a person deceives himself with his own need to control his own destiny.

2) How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your story reading?

I would like for the listener to become involved in the story. To feel the character’s own emotions as he’s pulled his ordeal.

3) How long have you been writing?

I have written short stories and journals from high school through college and all of my adult life. It was only during the early 1990s that I decided to write a full-length novel with ideas from some of these early…

The calm before the storm – Poetry Reading by Sasha Holden

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

Watch the Poetry Reading of THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM:

Poetry performed by Steve Rizzo:

Get to know poet Sasha Holden:

1) What is the theme of your poem?

The theme is centered around the beauty, serenity and peacefulness of a river at those moments prior to the outbreak of a storm. Those moments before the environment takes a paradigm shift transforming itself into a sea of lightning wind and rain. The contrast between where we as people were moments before, to moments after this shift is outstanding.

2) How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?

I would like for people to realize that the environment and world in which we live is overpowering, and that we as people are a part of it, can experience it, yet have little influence on the ever changing and beautiful being known as nature.

I Am That Seed, Poetry by Steve Higgins

I Am That Seed
by Steve Higgins

Time sleeps in the distant desert,
and sitting softly under the yellow sun,
dried and dehydrated,
there is a seed that waits for the rains.
– I am that seed.
I wait for the rains with open hands
And when they wash over me time wakes refreshed
And I’ll drink all I need
-I am that seed.
The seed that longs to know
The secrets of this distant desert
And when my bones lie here
And mingle with the sand
The secrets of the desert -and my own- will be one
-I am that seed
that aches for knowledge
and hungers with desire.
Listen now and understand
And know me now for who I really am
-I am that seed

The bright sparks in my family, Poetry by Louisa Adjoa Parker

Genre: Society, Life, Technology

The bright sparks in my family
by Louisa Adjoa Parker

They’ve been wired together
wrongly, fuses blow too quickly
circuits short themselves
and their systems overload;
like robots of the future
made by robots
made by robots
in a factory where instructions
left by people
on how to make a robot’s mind
have long been lost
to time and buried
under fine metallic dust.
