CAST LIST:

Alex – Hugh Ritchie
Narration – Victoria Urquhart
Richard – Sean Ballantyne
Brenda – Julie C. Sheppard

Get to know the writer:

1. What is your screenplay about?
My script is about a young woman whose life is flipped upside-down when her estranged stepbrother comes home with vengeance on his mind. But they form a relationship, which complicates things.

2. What genres does your screenplay fall under?

Drama with Thriller elements.

3. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?

This story is bold and it’s honest. It stars an atypical kind of heroine, features atypical sorts of relationships and takes people out of their comfort zones. But it doesn’t achieve those things for shock value alone. There’s an actual emotional point.

4. How would you describe this script in two words?

Risque. Haunting.

5. What movie have you seen the most times in your life?

It was a great start to the 2018 FEEDBACK Film Festival season in Toronto as event 1 of 24 was a giant success. The sold out crowd was really engaged in the moderation session lead by the talented Kierston Drier.

The theme of the event was “Misplaced People”.

Every film was about a person being in the wrong situation or place.

January 2018 brought the festival a new team…

Interview with Screenwriter Hannah Suria (GF)

matthewtoffolo's avatarMatthew Toffolo's Summary

GF was awarded BEST FILM at the February 2018 Los Angeles FEEDBACK Film Festival.

Matthew Toffolo: What motivated you to make this film?

Hannah Suria: I wrote this film based on real experiences and after losing friends and trying to make new ones. I also really love romantic comedies and wanted to do something in that realm but focus on a different yet equally important type of relationship: female friendships.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this short?

It took about a year, on and off, to write, there were 5 days of principle photography, a couple days for pick up shots and editing took 3 or 4 weeks (although we wish we had more time!).

3. How would you describe your short film in two words!?

Lighthearted comedy (or girl power!)

4. What was the biggest obstacle you…

Lior Sperando: I have heard and read different opinions about the wave of Syrian refugees who try to make their way in to the EU.

But Seeing the people behind the headlines with my own eyes, and feeling their deep struggle, broke my heart.

I wanted to show what I saw in the Greek island.

MT: From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

So 5 weeks all together

Interview with Composer Mateo Messina (JUNO, BLOCKERS)

matthewtoffolo's avatarMatthew Toffolo's Summary

What an honor it was to chat with composer Mateo Messina. Such a talented and positive guy. I was inspired after our 30 minute chat, I have to admit. A total pro who teaches you in this interview many things, including that it’s not a bad thing to sneak into buildings in order to forward your career when you need to!:

Matthew Toffolo: When did music enter your life?

Mateo Messina: When I was 3 years old, I started playing the piano quite a bit and just remember really liking it from a first memory. At 5 years old, I starting coming up with my own compositions. My brothers used to play a game with me where a commercial jingle would play on the radio and I was able to go to the piano and play the song.

So you were a child prodigy then?

I don’t think so. Music…
